If you haven't seen any tanks with it. Probably a reason why...

Seen no gravel and sand tanks. YouTube it?

Most opt for an aragonite based sand because there are numerous benefits and its the most natural substrate. Gravel isn't usually used because it traps detritus and needs to be cleaned. It's also more difficult for burrowing animals to navigate. But most saltwater tanks are hardly devoid of color. What is your setup or planned setup?

I was just wondering. I have a 20 gallon tank that isnt being used right now and thought if it would work, would start it using that gravel.

I have been cycling a tank with gravel but i am puting hill stream loaches in there so it kind of there natural envirement, sand has always been a better option

Last poster made the point I was about to make! It can be done, just most don't for various reasons. Lol
