This thread is about the 20 gallon tank that I got after learning about cycling. I ripped my plants from the my other tank planted them in this tank and started up the filter on 2/6/2021. This tank is empty besides plants. It’s equipped with a 100w heater and an aqueon quiet flow 10(100gph).

I’m going to be moving my honey gourami to this tank once it’s cycled.

Tonight’s test gh(250) no3 (0) no2 (0) cl2(0) kh(80) ph(6.8) ammo(0.2)

Inhabitants

These are the two that will be moved into this tank today once it’s up to temperature for them.

We are adding a new 100w heater. Is this enough for Dwarf Honey Gourami? It’ll bring the tank to 76-78° F

What is your ambient temp in the room the tank is in? Do you open windows or otherwise? Heaters are measured at raising the temp of the tank based on circulation and ambient temps. Its winter in the north, so be aware of your room temp, filtration(submerged or otherwise), aeration,...

I don’t know the temperature of my room(possibly high 60s) that’s why I have a heater in all my tanks including my water change bucket. No windows open during winter I’m immuno compromised so that’s a death wish with the slush. The 20 gallon long tank has an adjustable heater in it that I can regulate the temp with. My two gourami are nervous about their new home and have been hiding on opposite sides. The filter in this tank is an aqueon quietflow 10 it is a 100gph filter it’s a hang on the back. The heater is below the filter between the intake and outtake. It’s also set at 80

Where is your thermo located? A 20 long can vary in temp. I would place the heater in the opposite corner or the filter. 60ish is rough and can overwork the heater as well. Logic says where the water surface hits the air and aeration is where it will be cooled. Just a suggestion. Try moving the heater and the thermo. Watch any food particles to identify your flow in the tank. Hope that helps.

This is my set up the thermometer is in the front right corner the heater is under the filter because that’s where the flow is.

Seems to be in acceptable parameters. You should be good to go. I would still move the thermo to all corners to ensure the temp is adequate. Avoid any chems that create oils on the surface of the water(easy to spot). Your fishies should thrive...be careful not to add any that can out-chase or exhaust your Gs.

They are my boss fish in this tank I only plan to add a shoal of corydoras.

Found a for sure male honey(fire) gourami as he has black on his chin and fin. Two females and a male in a 20 gal only plan to add corydoras and maybe some male guppies

Added a bubble wall to the 20gallon it makes the tank foamy~
