I have a 35 gallon tank stocked with 4 guppies, two cherry barbs, and two thick lipped sunset gouramis. Last week, one of the gouramis started hiding a lot and hanging out on the bottom of the tank. It looked like he was being bullied by the other gourami, so I moved him to a ten gallon tank by himself. This morning, he is dead, along with one of the guppies in the main tank. Two of the other guppies are acting like they have ammonia poisoning. Their gills look inflamed, and they are up at the surface of the tank gasping for air. However, I tested the water, and it is showing 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 5ppm nitrates. The temperature of the tank is 79degrees Farenheit, and the ph is 8( which is normal for this area.) I do 15%-20% weekly water changes. Any ideas what might be going on here?
