I am planting my first planted aquarium and I would like some advice.

I would LOVE to have some baby tear plants... however I read everywhere from them being "ok" low-light plants to needing a LOT of light. I currently have the aquarium near a N. facing window and probably wouldn't consider the light above "low-light". In the future I plan to get some additional lighting, but I want to know if I can support a small, slow growing population of baby tear plants or if they're more likely to just die on me.

Welcome to AA :)

IME, baby tears (HM) will half decent under two 13w CFL bulbs in a 10g tank. They won't carpet like they will in higher light, they'll grow upwards. Dwarf baby tears (HC) will not. They require high light. What kind of light are you planning on putting on it?

Agree with 'rook. If you are looking for a carpet effect, you have to have higher light. Without it, they may stay alive for awhile, but they will grow up instead of out.
