You guys helped me out a lot in my questions about what fish I could keep with my one single cichlid in his new 60 gallon tank. I got the most suggestions for zebra danios and tiger barbs. So I got a school of 12 zebra danios and 12 tiger barbs.
So in my tank I now have the following:
10 tiger barbs (lost two first day)
11 zebra danios (one first day gone)
1 zebra cichlid at 5 1/2 inches.
So far things are GREAT. The cichlid stays to the bottom, the tiger barbs the middle and the danios at the top. The cichlid does sometimes like to chase the smaller guys but not much at all. Everyone eats well and aggresion aside from chasing has been minimal.
My filter is for a 110 gallon tank, while my tank is only 60 gallons. And I do a weekly 25% or more water change. I have a huge amazon sword thats growing well that my cichlid has ignored....also some hygrow in there which he also doesn't seem interested in.
My question is, while I do NOT want to cram my tank FULL....I saw Green Tiger barbs today and I LOVE them. Can I fit any of these in the tank? Will they school with the regular tiger barbs or would have I have to buy 6 or more of the green ones and can I even do that in my tank?
I 100% will not if its even close to too many fish. I'd rather have some that are healthy than tons that are not.
thanks for your time in advance.
