Bamboo Charcoal

Hey, has anyone used this material in their aquariums as places for shrimp and small fish to swim through? Do you have to do anything to it before putting it into water? Thanks!

Also, are there any benefits to using this material over PVC pipes?

I've seen people use bamboo charcoal as media in a filter, so I would guess there would be no reason why you can't use it. I think it would look more natural than PVC pipes.

I use Java moss/Fern on DW and moss balls for my shrimp and they seem to love it. Will it have an effect on your pH (up/down)? Looks kinda cool .
