thinking about adding a banana plant into my tank... i was just curious after a while how come the bananas portions of the plants get soft and die?

My friend that has one said that it died off after sprouting a couple shoots. It does live a rather long time though. It requires at least medium lighting so some form of co2 would be advised. HTH

agreed... i had bananas for 6 months growing and everything...but eventually they die off... i was just wondering why

"the bananas" store the nutrients for the rest of the plant. As the plant uses up the nutrients, the bananas die.

so is it possible to play the remaining stems without the banana/?

Hara, think he means: so is it possible to plant the remaining stems without the banana?

oh, sorry..yes, you can plant the stems if they dont have bananas.
