barbs with tetras?

can i put barbs in with tetras?

and while i am on the subject of fish, is there a book with just pictures of freshwater fish with details, like origin, temperament, swim level,size, diet...ect...

ive got a few books from the library, The Perfect Aquarium from readers digest, and Aquarium Owners manual by Gina Sandford... both are very good with alot of how to's. hints and tips, and very good pictures...

depends, what barbs with what type of tetra?

I would say that generally yes, they would be ok

And sorry, i cant help with the book thing, i use the internet to get my info.

right now iver got cards and 2 long skirts... id like to get some cherry barbs and and tigers...

the barbs might nip the "long skirt" fins on the tetra.

Cardinal tetras, nipping barbs? nuh uh, i guess it could happen, but thats very unlikely.

If you do get barbs, get a large school because that will help bring agression down.

I've had cherry barbs in the past with neons and cardinals. I never had any problems with them being nippy. They, however, do seen to be an exception among barbs.
