ok I got about 95lb of mixed liverock and baserock all which is completely purple now...its a 75g..I had setup my daugters little nano tank for about 2 weeks with some baserock and was going to get some liverock and decided i wanted to not go ahead with the nano...So i have an extra 25lbs of base rock that I want to put in my main tank..It has some green algae on it in a few spots for the most part its still white...What should i do to the rock before puting it in the main tank..Boil it?? i want to fill up some of my main 75g bare spots with it..

Thanks

Tony

I don't see a need to boil it either. I think everything would be fine with it, you were just using it in a tank that was cycling right?

that correct..it was in a tank that was cycling. It was about two weeks into the cycle...I was using raw shrimp....I had gotten a leak on the nano tank and then the filter broke and i was like one tank is enough..SO i took the rock out and its been dried and been sitting in a bag in my basement for about 3 months.

Thanks for the help!

if it's been sittin dry that long, that means the algae is now dead and will spike some ammonia when placed in the tank. Rinse and scrub off as much of the old algae as you can, then put it in your tank and you should be fine. no need to boil :D
