so yesterday i went to the beach and got some shells to put in my freshwater tank. how can i make them safe to add to my tank? or can i not add them?

Wash them out very thoroughly with tap, then wash it with dechlorinated water.

I agree, I simply washed some shells I got from the beach that had dried salty ocean water on them with tap water and put them in a tiny 3 gallon tank and everything was fine. Boiling them could disenfect them as well, but seems a bit overboard. Can't be too safe though
