Ok, so my son now has a small tank with just two Orandas to start him off (7yo)

the plant we bought has flourished and already (6wks) has lengthened. I was told in the shop that I could cut off the fresh growth, tie it and plant it into the gravel when it gets too long, so I have.

Q: What should we tie the ends together with? Is a bag-tie (plastic tie with wire inside) ok?

I have noticed that the older plant growth lower down has started to brown slightly. there's loads of roots being shot off though, so I guess its healthy enough???

:thanks:

I wouldn't use anything with wire. Instead I'd use a cotton string or twine that's not dyed or even fishing line.
The plastic will break down and the wire will rust.
