You cant go wrong with the API master test kit.

API master kit is the only one I have ever used. No need for anything else. Readily available, cheap, easy to use.

Agree on the API test kit. Its perfectly suitable for most if not all freshwater testing applications. They aren't the most accurate kit out there but they are certainly accurate enough. Unless you are super anal about your water parameters then it should work just fine.
