What plant can survive the low light, high ammonia that bettas live in? I have tried Anubias and Ferns but they die within a month. "melt" The 2.5g tank he is in does have a filter but it does not cycle the tank. Just keeps water clear. I do a 50% WC every week, just to help keep him healthy. I seriously do not like keeping Bettas in bowls and "cups". Just animal cruelty.

Bettas really shouldn't be living in high ammonia conditions but regardless, I'd think about trying java moss.

For better advice though could you let us know what kind of lighting you have?
