Would elevated nitrates alone start to make my brain coral start to lose some color? It used to be a little more brown and green

Well, there is a chance that it is leading to the issue. What kind of lighting and flow is it under? How long has it been in the tank?

It's a tiny nano. It's 5.5 gal and its under an 18 watt compact fluorescent hood(2, 9 watt bulbs) and a 16 in atinic fluorescent. It's in the dead middle of the tank with a hang on back filter supplying the flow for the tank. It's been in there for around a month maybe a little more.
