Aquarium Advice Regular
I have a 5 gallon tank with a bleeding heart tetra whom has lived for 2-3 years now. I have never had such luck with a fish. Is this normal? How long are they supposed to live.

A lifespan of 5 years is normal.
Bleeding hearts are a bit larger than most tetras. A 10 or 20 g tank is a more suitable home for them.

They should be kept in a shoal of 6+. A shoal of adults will need a 29 gallon, IMO.

Do a planted shrimp tank.
Or
small live bearer guppies or endlers do all males and max like 3.
If you can upgrade to a 10 your choices open up a bit more.
Was deciding weather or not to make a 5 gallon beta/plant tank for the girlfriend since she had one when younger.
