Blue crawfish molted?

Well i have had hermit crabs many times in the past. I knew the signs. He was hiding in his usual spot all day. Not moving much. And burrowed into the substrate a little bit inside of a cave. And i wake up today and his exoskeleton along with one of his claws???????? How could that have happened? He obviously was not attacked because his claw is attached to his exo skeleton. None of my cichlids are bigger or even close te size of him. Will his claw ever grow back?

His claw will indeed grow back. They sometimes have trouble molting and lose a claw in the process.

I think you may get to a point to where the jewel(s) will knock him off completely. Especially when he's vulnerable after a molt.
