Anyone have experience with keeping bluegill had one for about 4 months its growing like crazy any idea how big they get and any general info would be great

Easy to keep most grow to 8"-12". Keep in cooler water.

I have him with a parrot cichlid in about 75 degree water is that to warm... i had it with my goldfish but it started to get aggressive

Um no that would do. I live in MS and during the summer the water will get 90-98°F... So I say lower temps but yes they can survive in warmer waters.

And 90-98°F is the water. The temperature outside the water runs 100-+°F.

Thanks its a really cool fish very attractive wonder why there not in the aquarium trade more often

Probably because they are so common, I actually consider them pests when fishing sometimes.

They aren't in the trade because it takes so long to grow them to a legal size, and there is a size minimum if you catch your own, though there are pond specialists that have some stock though. I had a couple for a month or so. Avoid too many water disturbances. I did a big water change one day (70% or so) and they were not happy with the water disturbance as I put new water in. They stressed, got a rapid case of fin rot, and died. They were awesome when I had them though. I fed mine a homemade meat gelatin food and they loved it. Got leftover worms from fishing too. I may try another next year and put one with my two yellow bullhead catfish.

Yellow Bullheads are awesome pets. You will love the personality of them. Also better avoid smaller fish too cause they have a big appetite.

I don't keep anything else with my bullhead. I love watching them during feeding time. I do wish they were more active during the day, they just chill under their rock cave or piece of driftwood. They are really cool to watch at night when they are constantly on the move higher up in the water column. I have mine in a 55 and use it as a headboard at the head of my bed so I can see them all the time at night with the glow from our outdoor light outlining the bullheads silhouettes. When they are resting at night they go under the driftwood which is just a couple inches from my head. I love the guys. My friend who was with me when we were catching them dubbed the one he caught Ronny. I choose the name Bob the Bullhead for the one I caught. Maybe I'll add a third this spring so I have a trio.
