Bought used 55 gal salt water set-up can't get water to pump. Help!

We just bought a used system. 55 gal with 15 gal sump, skimmer and a little giant pump. This is our first salt water tank attempt. We hooked it all up the way we thought it should work and the water wont pump. Not sure if the pump isn't working or if we are doing something wrong. can someone help us?

ok pump is working now and we can't get the overflow going.... ugggg!

ok found out how to get the overflow started by another web site by puttingin a tube and sucking out the air to get it started. YUCK.. put it worked. seems simple now that we know how it is suppose to work.

Yes years ago I had a HOB overflow and had to siphon the tube. Many a time had a mouth full of SW. LOL. Welcome to the site.

you can buy an aqualifter pump and that remove the air for you. they are like 10-15 bucks or so.
