Brittle star

I found a brittle star on my dead montipora piece are they helpful in a reef rank or should I get rid of it today when i get rid of my dead coral

Helpful. No reason to get rid of the monti skeleton either. Just toss it in the back of the rock structures or in the sump.

Oh really I thought it would raise nitrates or ammonia since its dead

If it's dead, it's probably pure white. Now it's just reduced to a skeleton, which is nothing more than a piece of calcium/live rock...
