Hello,

I have the brown algae that just wipes away really easily. It is growing on my glass. I think this means I need to adjust something related to my plants. How do I figure it out?

Thanks!!

Sounds like diatoms. How long has the tank been set up. A diatom outbreak is fairly normal in new tanks. It caused by excess Silicate in the water.

I set it up in the first week of September. I will look up silicates. Thank you! If you have any advice beyond that, I'm open!

I use Seachem Phosguard in my Fluval 405, and API Phos-Zorb in my Filstar canister filter to remove silicates (and excess phosphates). Works like a charm.
