Bubbling barb

Why does my tiger barb keep swimming to the surface then swim halfway down the tank and release a bubble??

We really need to know more about your tank setup to properly answer this question. It could be oxygen starved. It could also be normal feeding behavior.

We have a 45 litre biorb life it has a bubble tube, have 4 tiger barbs and 6 danios, have had them for 2 years and one of the barbs has just started this strange behaviour???

What are your water parameters: i.e: ammonia, nitrites, nitrates?

Nitrites <0.3 mg/l, ammonia 0 mg/l and pH 7

Tiger Barbs are greedy. Is there a bubble on the surface of the water that it is 'eating' thinking it is food?

No I don't think it has anything to do with food.

What are you using to test the water? What are your nitrAte readings? Please be aware that those test strips are horribly inaccurate.

They are tetra liquid test kits. If you don't know it's fine just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar behaviour?

It's not that I don't know. It's that I suspect a water quality issue may be the cause. It's hard to provide any advice without as much info as possible. We'd probably give you some wrong advice without the info.
