Cad lights skimmer

OK so I went to reefapalooza and bought a skimmer the CSD lights nano skimmer meant for 50 gallons I bought it for my biocube 29 I have a hood with LEDs built in to it. Well the problem is that the skimmer fits in chamber 1 if there was less plastic in the hood and I take off or keep the back panel lifted. Has anyone used this skimmer and of I do mods to the hood can I make it work? If not how would I go about returning it and what should I get?

Can't you just dremel the lid there so it can close?
