Thanks guys. Is this something I should be getting rid of while I can. Sounds like it can be somewhat hard o control.

It's a coral that people spend money on. It does grow rapidly but is not a pest IMO.

It can look nice, but it usually kills whatever it touches, so I would suggest putting it on an isolated rock, so it cannot grow up to other corals. I wouldn't classify it as a pest either, but it can be invasive. It also can be peeled away from rock or glass if need be. Gently slide a credit card or something flat under it and pry up the purple mat and you can glue that to frag plugs or whatever.

It's a neat coral that will even encrust over glass if you want it to.

I have placed it in a corner of my tank boxed in by my torch. This give is some sandbed and some glass to encrust but if I am understanding right the torch will prevent it from spreading too much and overtaking the tank. Thanks for everyone's replies.
