Can this moss grow submerged?

My mother bought this moss at the store (I think it's moss at least) and has it growing in a pot. It looks very familiar, like something I've seen in planted tanks. Does anyone know what it is, and if I could stick some in my tank? :)
 
Looks like a peacock fern to me, but I could be wrong. If it is peacock fern it isn't awfully submersible aquatic plant
 
Yes, after looking up peacock fern that does look like what it is. Sigh.. I suppose ill have to go pay for some actual aquatic plants after all. Thanks for your help:)
 
hahaha, you must be like me! very often i walk down the street and look at plants and wonder if they are submersible =<....
 
Good to know I'm not alone in my frugality! :)

I know I've seen some cool plants growing in local streams around here, so now that the weather is nice I might go see what I can pull up. My only concerns would be possible parasites, and them transitioning from 50 degree water to 75 degree water...
