I just got a water test from petco and she said that my water was a little hard and I could soften it by sprinkling salt in the water? I have a 10 gallon tank with 1 male betta and 2 Cory cats, 1 leopard and 1 albino and putting salt in the water sounds a little weird.
Can you soften water by putting salt in our tank?

General Hardness.
Most likely with those species of fish, there will not a be a need to soften your water. Fish will adjust (unless you are in the ~1% who's tap water is no good as is for keeping common community fish).
