I'm cleaning my canister later today. How long can I safely leave it unplugged?

If you're concerned about bacteria die off I believe you'll be safe up to 24 hours so long as everything stays wet. If its your fish that worry you they'll be fine for a couple of hours.

Takes me about 20 mins to clean out a Cannister.I combine it with a water change and drain off about 15 gallons into a container.Pour some of the 15 Gallons into a bucket.I clean the first tray in this bucket of water then change the water in the bucket for the next tray.Once this is done I reassemble the cannister and fill the filter up with the remaining drained off Tank water.Switch back on ET VOILLA
