Canopy tops

I'm getting a 20 gallon tank and was planning on getting a glass canopy top... Iv noticed that some tanks don't have tops, So my question is will that type of tank require a top or is it better off being an open aquarium?

Its all a matter of opinion. If you have fish that jump then get a top. Most of the time if there is no top its for the sleek look

I don't have one for oxygen exchange. Most people who have them will still have an open Fuge tho to help. Again it is a matter of opinion over all.
