Carbon replacement

I purchased a box of fluval carbon bags, intended to be used in their filters. They are 100 grams, and are going into a w/d filter on a 40 gallon planted tank. How often should I replace them? Monthly? Thanks!

Carbon is pretty useless in a planted tank as it will remove some of the nutrients needed to feed the plants.

I only have sponges and bio rings in my filter for my planted tank.

Carbon can be used if you have a bad odour or need to medicate the tank.
My carbon bag that came with my Fluval206 is still in the plastic wrapper it came in in my tank stand.
