I am getting sand for my cichlid tank. I have africans and south Americans currently. I had only south americans in a 29 gallon but got a 75 and i wanted to integrate the south am. with the africans ( i know it isnt advisable). my pH was about 7.6 in the smaller aquarium and the s. am. were doing fine at that pH. I have read it isnt so much what the pH is its more how drastically it changes that affects the fish more.
I am trying to decide between the Caribsea sahara black and white sand which is for africans. It may raise the pH of my tank too high for the s. am. but they are already tolerating a higher pH as of now. do you think i should just go with a non buffered sand? it doesnt come in the pretty black and white tho.
