cascade canister 1500 + LR rubble = ?

I just took out everything on the basket of my cascade canister 1500 and put a bunch of my LR rubble in it for more swimming space... is this a good idea?... does my LR need light or should it be fine in the filter?.. thanks!!!

The LR rubble does not have to have light. It should still work fine. The only thing is dont take too much out of your tank so that the fish dont have a place to hide and sleep in.

well it wasnt really rubble sizes... I just crushed some LR pieces with a hammer and a towel to make it fit in the baskets... is that still ok?... also I did that because there wasnt enough swimming area
