I want to change my community tank over to a tank with just cichlids, I can find homes for most of my current stock but I'm almost certainly going to be left with around 8 guppies of various sizes from 1cm to fully grown, I've still to research yet what stock to go with but deff want to start with yellow labs then go from there, so first question will the labs just kill the guppies or eat them as well? Secondly, I have a gravel substrate which is pretty small at around 1 to 2 mm max in size, will this be suitable or does it need to be finer or changed to sand, my tanks been running with no issues for around 18 months and is very stable re water parameters so when I switch to cichlids putting them in before removing the guppies would be ideal as that way there would be no interruption of he bio load so shouldn't get any spikes. Any help would be appreciated.
