I have never kept cichlids but decided I want to keep lake Malawi ones soon.

I have a 240l tank (63 us gallons, 52 uk). Would like to have 4 yellow labs, 6 afra, 6 red zebra and 4 acei. Just one male of each species as understand this is what you should do.

So would they be fine together and is 20 fish too many for this tank?

20 is pushing it for this size tank, but is doable with enough filtration especially if they are juveniles. For this size tank. I'd cut it back to 3 species instead of 4 . They're hard to sex without venting or seeing a holding female so you might wind up with more males than you want initially and re-home some later on. Good luck, mbuna are great.

Filtration AND hiding spots, with that many fish try not to slack on the rockwork, Ur fish will appreciate it :)

I think that you will be fine with that stock.....i have 30 fish in my 55g and they do great with these kind of cichlids you want to overstock a little to cut down on aggression
