Cichlids fight

Can any body tell me why my 3 jewel cichlids are holding eachers mouths yhe one i thought was pregant i put in a bed pen for a few weeks just check to see if there any think but wasnt so ive put the fish back in the tank and now there holding eachers mouth like there fight and really could do with knowing please like asap meny thanks russell

I don't think that's fighting, but I could be wrong - wouldn't be first time.

Do i chance putting them back together then as the tanks been running over a year and been fine since

Maybe more of an expert on cichlid behavior should chime in here. I've seen mine doing that from time-to-time and always thought they were just playing.

It's called lip locking. Chances are there is one female and a few males, They're jockeying for territory or its too crowded. Tank size?inhabitants?
