Is it normal for a clown fish to jump out of the tank! Mine did and now it's dead. I have no lid on my tank. Should I put one on it?

They will jump occasionally. It's advisable to get a lid of some sort. It's easy to make a very effective one with materials for a window screen.

You're not alone. I had a nice (and expensive) pair of clowns and I came home to one of them carpet surfing. Took me a few months to mate the remaining again. I'm still going screen less but it's a good idea to get one. It's all about the chance you're willing to take

Gutted for you. Trouble is I can't put a lid on as my lights clip to the sides.

Yes I may try that. Or I was thinking of some clear plastic sheet. Not sure if lights will penetrate it though

i built 3 separate window screens for my 125. best thing ive done in terms of fish safety. even when im awy for weekends i know that the fish are nice and safe INSIDE the water....not rogue carpet surfing or getting tossed around like a toy by my cat.
