co2 tabs

Hi.
I am doing well with my planted tank but as it has no c02 I am getting a bit impatient. Will c02 tabs help at all? I cant afford compressed atm and dont trust myself with diy c02 kits. My tank is 4ft by 18inch by 12 inch with 2 t8s.

I just read an article on here under "planted tank" articles and it said CO2 tabs are bad because you can't control the amount of CO2 being released.

Co2 tabs are gimmicks that really only make your wallet lighter.


DIY co2 is pretty easy, but excel is always an option if you are adamant about not doing co2.

Does exel really work? I've been wondering about CO2 tabs as well, suppose that's a no-go then.

Excel works 'ok'. It's really more of a supplement rather than an answer to a problem, but it's better than nothing.
