I know tried you tried your best with these guys!!! For disinfection, a bleach solution would be the best for killing everything (1 part regular bleach to 9 parts water). Throw away the filter media. Soak/scrub whatever you plan on keeping incl the filter housing for atleast 20mins in the bleach solution, rinse well with hot water, soak with dechlorinated water & let everything dry in the sun (if possible).
