I have a planted tank at the moment, and eventually I would like to add co2.

I was told that for my 55 gallon, it would cost around £200 to set up a system. I have also seen links for DIY co2 kits. Does a DIY co2 kit cost you money in the long run, or does it just mean you don't have to buy the original system.

Please could someone explain how it all works? I would love to have a beautiful planted tank, and be able to have more variety of plants.

I need to upgrade my lighting, but this system is something I may consider next year.

Is co2 really worth it? Does a DIY co2 kit save lots of money?

Thanks - I know it is a daft question!!

I think your tank is a little big for DIY, unless you had multiple bottles on the go. Pressurised paintball system would be your best bet I think. And yes co2 in your planted tank is definitely worth it, with a good fert regime you will notice the growth massively.
