There is copper in water and the amounts vary from municipality to municipality. It depends on what they need to teat for and how much there is. If you need to test for it here is a link that may help: Copper SenSafe Test Strips | Water Treatment
most domestic water supplies contain copper, but in such tiny amounts it wouldn't have any adverse affects on fish in your aquarium if that's what is worrying you. they'll be fine.
It's actually the inverts that are more susceptible to illness from copper. You'd have to get a copper test kit to know just how much is in your tap water. It shouldn't be enough to be a problem.
