I want to feed my 2 oscars jack Dempsey severum and jack/Texas hybrid fairy shrimp. I plan to buy them as eggs and raise them and let them breed. While they grow I want to feed them the shrimp. I will buy them as 5000 eggs will they eat the shrimp. Will the oscars get sick with hole in the head. Is it healthy and nutritious for them. I read that they are 70% protein and low in fat. These are my fish...

I don't believe that will be a good food choice for those fish. Your best bet will be to offer some variety (frozen foods, freeze-dried, etc) while using a quality staple pellet.

I Was planning to do all if that like monday morning flakes
Monday afternoon pellets
Tuesday morning shrimp
Tuesday afternoon frozen
Wednesday morning flakes
Wednesday pellets
Etc

+1 stick with a quality pellet like New Life Spectrum and there won't be a need to supplement anything else, it's a one stop shop.

K thanks would that idea be good the schedule

Oscar, i dont think your going to get the anwser your looking for. As both said shrimp would be a bad idea.

Shrimp aren't necessarily a bad idea.... just those shrimp are. Frozen or freeze dried mysis or ghost shrimp make good "treats" for the fish, but should be occasional. The schedule has you feeding far too often IMO. A good once a day feeding is plenty. More than that (especially with those fish) will only foul your water. Come to think of it... what size tank is this?

He's got them in a 70g, we've already advised him of the issues with water quality and aggression in keeping these fish in a small tank

So noted. Thanks.

Careful feedings will be very important then I think.
