For those of you that have one, how often do you empty the collection cup? Just wondering because mine doesnt seem to collect much...

the lower you let the collection cup sit the more it will skim. I dont let mine get to the top, i usually empty it when it gets halfway. usually in a weeks time.

Yeah, about a week goes by before I MUST empty it.

BTW I strongly suggest upgrading the Rio 600 pump to a MaxiJet 1200. Much more effective.

also every tank is different... tank size,feeding habits, number of fish, LR, how often you do water changes are all factors that need to be looked at. So IMO you can not judge how effective Your skimmer is unless someone else has the same exact setup you have. You have been soing a lot of water changes lately right? So your output will be lower.. JMO

My skimmer came with the maxi-jet. Yeah i have been doin a lot of water changes, so maybe it will pick up a later. thanks for the help
