We noticed this crab crawling on on our LR a couple of nights ago. It looked like it was eating some algae. It's coloring is burgundy & white, striped front claws, and 4 white dots on the top front of the shell.
I'm not sure if this will help with identification or not, but this crab also seems to like to be flipped over on his back moving his smaller legs - he does this frequently.
We just did some more research and observed the crab. It seems to be making a hole in a small piece of live rock we put in it larger. Could this be a Xanthidae crab?
