Yep, Crypt wendtii. I've never seen anything like it either and couldn't find anything on google.

Oh, It's definitely Crypt Wendtii...The growth in question looked like a pod at first but it opened and now resembles a flower. Crypt wendtii can flower when grown emersed, but the "flower" is tall and grows upright- and looks nothing like what I am seeing. As far I can tell, it's some sort of seed pod.
