Cutting roots

Ok so I have an amazon sword that I've had for almost a year now and the roots have trashed all the way across the tank of my 40 gallon tall and are half the length of my 55gallon am I able to cut the roots to make them shorter or no

Will cutting roots hurt the plant or what???

Yes, you should be fine. Just don't cut them too short.

Have you pulled the plant completely up? You should be fine cutting them down to 2-3 inches and replanting. Just know they're gonna grow back quite fast...

Yes I did pull it up because I have a bacterial bloom in one of my tanks so I moved it so I can just shut that tank down since there were no fish in it and here are how long the roots are
