Cuttlefish bone

How many cuttlefish bone do I put in my 20 gallon aquarium for my snails?

I used to keep Hermit crabs and put 1 large piece of cuttlefish bone in the tank.
It helped strengthen their shells.


But with my aquarium tank. I have crushed coral sand in the substrate - which is high in calcium carbonate. I find that helps my snails.

Well, I have rock substrate and I ordered cuttlebone from Amazon, cost me a lot, but oh well. Thank you.

Some crushed coral in the filter would be just as effective.

Cuttlebone is available at pet supplies in the bird section.

Yep, you can pick up a piece that will last a long time for about $2 at petsmart. Just break a piece off and stick it in the substrate, replace once it's gone.
