Cyanobacteria: Bringer of LIfe

i was just watching the last 20 minutes of "Nova: Origins" on PBS and they were saying that an ancient descendant of cyanobacteria made enough oxygen over 2 billion years to create multicellular organisms and our atmosphere. i always knew that some sort of bacteria was responsible but i had no idea it had something to do with cyanobacteria. from now on, instead of cringing at the sight of it, i'll stare in awe and pretend i'm witnessing the creation of life on earth

I love the smell of cyanobacteria farts in the morning, it smells like history.

interesting tidbit though. not surprising since there are something like 4,000 species of cyano.

There's even a Hawaiian biotech company that specializes in cyano and microalgae.
