When getting my saltwater ready for the beginning cycle what should the salinity be in my water?

Get your water in the 1.020 to 1.025 range at about 77 degrees. Then start your cycle. Good question. I don't think I've seen this one asked before.

The range in SG is for FO (low side) to reef (high side). It can be tweaked after the cycle is complete with PWC's.

Sorry to double post but had a question. Just got done with my test kit and apparently there is some ammonia present. I haven't added any sort of ammonia. All i have is

"Live Sand" from a bag I bought at PetCo
Live Rock that I got from Mr. Coral
Water with Instant Ocean

Anything above any reason to give any ammonia? Nitrites and nitrates were both at 0
