Cycling question

Been fishless cycling for a few weeks. Original dose was 4 ppm ammonia until it reached 0 then did it again and so on and so forth until it was 0the next day. Then I started checking nitrites to and continued with the ammonia. Yesterday both were 0 and dosed ammonia again just to verify.... As you would guess accidentally put in a little bit to much)not much.... today the ammonia read .5 - 1 ppm and nitrite was 0..... Seeing nitrite 0 two days in a row was exciting but seeing the ammonia not drop to 0 gave me a little concern. Basically was wondering if I am cycled or not .... Still a little shaky it being my first go at an aquarium. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

dose again for a couple days. once you get a consistent 0ppm reading on nitrite and ammonia, then... and only then... are you cycled.

Yeah, I think you're done. I'd give it one to two more days to confirm it, but I think you're there.

Thanks ...... Yes I was showing dark purple nitrites for a while.

Good deal. Just make sure you do a massive pwc to get the nitrAte levels down before you add fish.
