Cycling tank with fish waste?

I have set up a saltwater tank and it is currently cycling. I was wondering if I can grow the bacteria in my tank with a small piece of fish waste from my african cichlid tank?

Personally I'd just put some raw shrimp in there

Yeah exactly just out it in some tights or something and leave in your tank
