I bought two female Dalmation Molly on the 13th April one of them looks normal but one of them has a really swollen belly, I’ve had experience with constipation in fish before and I’m nervous it’s that rather than pregnancy. She has more black on her that white so a griavid spot isn’t visible. There are no males in my tank at the moment I don’t know how she got pregnant if she is.
If she is going to give birth I should like to keep some of the fry but I’m worried about the other fish in the tank eating them I have a quarantine tank but I have two female black mollies in there at the moment recovering from white spot. What do I do?

Still eating? Also do the scales look ok and not slightly ruffled. If it developed overnight than more of a concern.

The females can store sperm for several batches from memory so most likely from store.

There is not sigh of sticking up scales. If they can carry sperm in them like that then it is more likely that she is pregnant. I’ve heavily planted the tank and put some floating plants there too. Hopefully I’m not just imagining things! ?

How far off do you think she is? Days? Weeks? She’s just swimming around normally in the tank, there is no abnormal breathing and she’s not chasing anyone away, I can’t see a gravid spot on her because of her colours so I really don’t know how long to expect to wait?

I'd say another 2 or maybe even 3 weeks and you should definitely have little fry swimming around. As a general rule of thumb, If an adult female livebearer has been around a male at some point in her life she will almost always be pregnant from then on out.
