I'm looking to switch from gravel to sand/soft substrate for my Goby. I don't think he's ever been able to dig in his life... but I hate the look of white/beige/tan sand in a planted FW tank, it feels so unnatural. I think it looks wonderful in SW tanks and FW tanks that aren't planted and have dark fish but I have a beautiful violet Goby and I plan on fully planting this tank. I'm hoping for something dark earthy brown or black but the only think I can find is moon sand and blasting sand which are both highly abrasive and not at all safe for my Goby's belly or my plecos for that matter. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I've seen people use organic potting soil but the always have to cover it with gravel which kinda defeats my purpose here.
